Divided Wabasha County Board doubles wheelage tax
The Wabasha County Board of Commissioners voted 3-2 to add an additional wheelage tax in an effort to keep the county roads in the best condition they can. The new wheelage tax will become effective Jan., 2018.
All commissioners were present, along with County Administrator Michael Plante.
The increase is in addition to the existing wheelage tax of $10 per vehicle that is payable when the vehicle is registered. The new tax will be an additional $10 per vehicle after Jan. 1, 2018.
