Felled tree has stories to tell

The remains of a burr oak tree that used to stand at the Department of Natural Resources field office in Lake City could contain a a lot of otherwise unobtainable data about the weather and environment in Lake City over most of the past two centuries.

But to get the information out, researchers with the University of Minnesota Center for Dendrochronology have to get the samples in the door.
