Governor looks forward to promoting Lake City and state’s multi-billion dollar outdoors industry

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said he’s excited to highlight Lake City and Minnesota’s outdoors industry at this year’s Governor’s Fishing Opener, scheduled for May 9-11.

The annual event brings media from across the region for a guided fishing outing and other events to promote Minnesota’s tourism and outdoors industry, especially fishing.

“The fishing and the outdoors is part of our heritage, it’s also $4.4 billion worth of revenue,” Walz said, supporting tens of thousands of jobs.

“It’s a big part of our economy,” he said.
