Wayward racer winds up in Lake City

A stranger dropped in on Joan and Dean Kaartinen at their downtown Lake City apartment this spring.

“Dean and I were sitting on the patio after doing some renovations up here and Harvey just showed up. I named him Harvey,” Joan said. “Harvey just shows up and sits on the corner of the patio and just falls asleep like he was looking for some human companionship or something.”

Harvey is a pigeon. A racing pigeon.
