Council approves 6.06% levy increase
By a 5-2 vote Monday, the Lake City City Council approved a preliminary property tax levy of $3,937,427.
Once the preliminary levy is set, it can be lowered or kept the same when the council approves a final levy.
The actual amount of city property taxes paid by individual property owners is influenced by several factors in addition to the levy amount including property classification, property values, and the number of properties contributing to the levy.
