Staying prepared for school violence

Half of the Lake City Police Department cordoned off half of Lincoln High School on Tuesday, July 17, for training on how to respond to an active shooter on the school grounds.

The training focused on patrol officers, who are likely to be the first law enforcement personnel on the scene, according to Lake City Police Sgt. Bill Weist.

“What we did today was focus on the very early stages of the situation,” Weist said.
