Darleen Henning

    Darleen Rae Henning, 83, a longtime resident of Lake City, passed away peacefully at the NorthCare Hospice House in Kansas City, Mo.
    A burial service is planned for Saturday, July 8, at noon at Lakewood Cemetery, followed by a celebration of her life at Port 104 in Lake City.
    Darleen was born, May 22, 1933 in Minneapolis, a twin daughter of John (Ray) and Muriel Carpentier. She was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church. In her youth, Darleen won several speed skating competitions in the U.S. and Canada and was an avid bowler. She played clarinet for the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra. Later in life she raised Arabian horses and Rhodesian Ridgeback dogs for show. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She spent most of her long life caring for others.
    She is survived by eight children, Lee (Patti) Leddy, John (Linda) Wengert, Dave (Clare) Wengert, Pamela (Mark) Agnew, James (Rita) Leddy, Paul David Rubenstein, Becky (Jeff) Robinson and Martin Lee (Beth) Leddy; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; twin sister, Marleen (Mal) Degernes; nephew, Brian (Susan) Jaskowiak; and nieces, Mary (Nick) Kowalenko, Juleen (Dave) Close, Carrie (Scott) Moe. Darleen was preceded in death by her husband, James Burnell (J.B.) Henning, her parents, brother, Dennis John Carpentier, and son, Paul Mitchell Wengert.
    Memorial contributions can be made in her name to St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City.
