Dolores Mickow Obituary

Dolores A. “Dory” Mickow, 86, of Wabasha, died Monday, May 15, 2017 as the result of an automobile accident near Little Falls, Minn.          She was born July 11, 1930 in St. Paul, to Benjamin and Bridget (Curran) Westbrook.  She was a graduate of St. Agnes Catholic High School in St. Paul.  She worked as a secretary for State Farm Insurance in St. Paul from 1951 until 1963.  She married Carl Mickow Aug. 10, 1963 in St. Paul. The couple lived in Wabasha their entire married lives.  Dory was a homemaker and she also worked several years for Wabasha County Social Services. Carl died May 12, 2011.
    Dory was a member of St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha and its Council of Catholic Women.  She was also a member of the Burkhardt-Roemer VFW Post 4086 Auxiliary.  She was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins fan.
    She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Marion, Oakdale, Minn., Carol and Dale Rodgers, Chatfield, Minn., Patti and Jon Gerchy, Bemidji, Minn. and Daniel Swenson, St. Paul, Minn.; son, John Mickow (Denniel Johnson), Wabasha; 10 grandchildren, Christopher, Cassandra, Bryan and Phillip Rodgers, Brett, Kelsey and Elyse Swenson, Cheryl Marble, Randy and Emilie Mickow; four great-grandchildren, Cooper and Aurora Swenson and Logan and Savannah Urchipia; and nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; daughter, Rose Swenson; son-in-law, Donald Marion; two brothers; and two sisters.
    A funeral Mass will be offered  Monday, May 22, at 11 a.m. at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha with the Rev. Fr. Gregory Parrott officiating.  Interment will be at Lakewood Cemetery in Lake City.  Casket bearers are her grandchildren, Christopher, Cassandra, Bryan, Phillip, Brett and Kelsey.  Family and friends may call at the church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
