Earl Ryan obituary

Earl Ryan, age 83, of Lake City passed away peacefully on Tuesday Dec. 29, 2020. He was blessed to remain at home, cared for by his loving family and supported by Red Wing Mayo Hospice.
Earl was born Sept. 29, 1937 in Lake City to Erwin and Agnes (Keeley) Ryan. He attended McCahill parochial school in Lake City until it closed. Earl then graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City in 1955. He married Dorothy Meyer on June 10, 1967 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, in West Albany Township. They raised their four children in Gillford Township, until moving to Lake City in 1991. Earl farmed until 1975 and then worked at Farmers Elevator until retiring in 1993. He was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City.
When he wasn’t cooking big meals for his family, you could find Earl on his daily cruises around Lake City while waving to people he knew. If you knew Earl, you’d know anything could spark his unique storytelling and famous one-liners, followed by his big contagious laugh. Above all, what made him most happy were visits from his children and grandchildren.
Earl is survived by two sons, John Ryan, Mark (Karen) Ryan of Lake City; a daughter Marie (John) Mueske of Lake City; five  grandchildren, Kaylin (Josh) Hartzell, Madie and Jack Ryan, Leighton and Ryder Mueske; great-grandson, Kannon Hartzell; and sister Marge (Joe) Schad of Lake City. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy in 2006; his son, Matthew in 1993; and his brother Joe Ryan.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 5 at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church with Father Matt Fasnacht officiating. A walk-through visitation will be held Monday, Jan. 4 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lake City.
