Inez Niedfeldt obit

Inez LaDell Niedfeldt, 98, of Lake City,  formerly of Red Wing, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020, at her home. She was born on Oct. 4, 1922, in Lamberton, Minn. to Hans and Emmy (Carlson) Mathiason. She graduated from Lamberton High School.  After graduation she moved to Santa Ana, Calif. where she went to college for bookkeeping and also was a nanny.  On May 14, 1943, she was united in marriage to Herbert Niedfeldt in Santa Ana.  They lived in South Dakota for many years before moving to Rochester and then to Red Wing. In 2017 she moved to the Lake City Care Center and then to her daughter’s home in Lake City. Herbert died on June 12, 2003. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Red Wing. She always enjoyed being with her family and friends.   
Inez is survived by one son, Tim Niedfeldt of Hager City; two daughters, Jill Kohrs of Lake City and Karen (Jerry) Stewart of Red Wing; six grandchildren, Scott (Dixi) Kohrs, Melissa (Jeremy) McDonnell, Nick Niedfeldt, Chris Niedfeldt, Phillip Warren and Brianna Stewart; five great-grandchildren, Shanna, Dylan, Austin, Jaidan McDonnell and Chance Kohrs; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, James; daughter, Judy Mattlock; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; daughter-in-law, Brenda Niedfeldt; sons-in-law, John Mattlock and Bill Kohrs; sister, Lila Berg; and two brothers, Curtis and Shirley “Matt” Mathiason.
A private family service will be held at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. The service will be live steamed on the funeral homes Facebook page at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021. Burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery in Red Wing.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
