LaVerne Dammann Obituary

LaVerne F. Dammann, 84, of Lake City, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017 at the Mayo Clinic Health System - Lake City Care Center.
    LaVerne was born Nov. 14, 1932 in Red Wing to Arthur and Bernice (Grossbach) Dammann. He attended rural school in Bear Valley and graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City in 1951. After graduation, LaVerne went into partnership with his father on the family dairy farm.
    LaVerne married Arlys Meyer on June 7, 1953 at Lincoln Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Zumbro Falls. After they were married, they farmed in Chester Township until 1991 when they retired and moved to Lake City. LaVerne continued to help on the farm even after his retirement.  He was an active member of St. John’s Bear Valley Lutheran Church where he served on the church and cemetery boards. He was also a member of the Lake City Kiwanis Club and the Lake City Sportsman's Club.
    He is survived by two daughters, Debbie (Mark) Schmid of Apple Valley and Carol (Patrick) Rolph of St. Cloud, Minn.; one son, Thomas (Julie) of Lake City; five grandchildren, Joshua (Cassie), Christopher, Alexandra, Carston and Morgan; and two great-grandchildren, Monty and Leo. He was preceded in death by is wife, Arlys, parents, and special friend Lorriane Zimmermann.
    A funeral service will be Saturday, Sept. 16, at 1 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Bear Valley Church in Mazeppa with Rev. Alan Horn officiating. Burial will be at St. John’s Bear Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 15, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.  Memorials are preferred to the Lake City Kiwanis Club or donor’s choice.  On-line condolences can be sent to www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
