Lewis Arms Obituary

Lewis “Lee” LeRoy Arms, 78, of Red Wing, passed away Friday, May 12, 2017, at the St. Crispin Living Community – Seminary Home in Red Wing.
    He was born Sept. 1, 1938, in Seattle, Wash. and was raised by his father, John Arms and grandmother, Pearl Arms in Wauzeka, Wis. Lewis entered the service at age 17 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1959. He worked with his father in California and Wisconsin Dells in a riding stable business. He spent 23 years as a union carpenter. He then ran his own business, “Lee’s Shop Supplies” for nine years. Lee married Joan Fields and raise two daughters, Tina and Debbie, in the Chicago area. The couple later divorced. On May 22, 1975, he married Sharon Gerdes in Isanti, Minn.  Lee enjoyed fixing old riding lawn mowers, snow blowers and especially antique boat motors as well as fixing bikes that he would then donate to kids.
    Lee is survived by daughters, Tina and Debbie; stepdaughters, Brenda (Richard) Wohlers and Cristy Wacker, both of Colorado Springs, Colo., Barbara Wacker of Lake City and Bonnie Wacker of Stewartville; stepson, Timothy VanMeveren of Red Wing; brother, Bud (Ginger) Arms of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; grandchildren, Kailey (Dan) Lafferty of Lake City, Alex Wohlers of Winona, McKenzie (Drew) Hardtke of Rochester and great-grandchildren, Karsen and Owen Lafferty. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Sharon and a grandson.
  Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 16 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, May 15 and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Burnside.
