Lois Meincke Obituary

Lois Marie Meincke, 89, of Lake City passed away Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017 at the Mayo Clinic Hospital, Methodist Campus in Rochester after a short battle with acute leukemia.
    She was born on Nov. 19, 1927 to Edward and Olive (Reveling) Betcher in Lake City. She married Richard Henry Meincke on Feb. 6, 1946 at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Lake City.  They farmed in Mt. Pleasant Township until 1979 when they moved to Lake City. They enjoyed 70 years together. In September 2015, Lois and Richard moved into The Bluffs of Lake City.
    Lois attended rural and Lake City schools, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1945. She was very active in her community and worked in several local grocery stores in Lake City.
    Lois was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and a member of Ladies Aid. She belonged to the Merry Maids Birthday Club, VFW Auxiliary, and Lake City Medical Auxiliary.
    Lois and Richard enjoyed spending 31 winters in Arizona. She enjoyed her leisure time fishing, playing cards, sewing, crafts, porcelain dolls, dancing and most of all spending time with family.
    Lois is survived by four children, three sons, James (Linette) Meincke, Daniel (Elaine) Meincke and Randy (Lori) Meincke, all of Lake City, and one daughter, Mary Kay (Jon) Gravenish of Lake City; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bernice Dahling of Lake City. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard, parents, two brothers, Donald and Raymond Betcher, and two sisters, Dorothy Schwirtz, Eleanor Gerken.
    A funeral service will be Friday, Sept. 15, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City with Rev. Paul Otto and Rev. Nathan Cordes co-officiating. Burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 14, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
