Margery Abraham Obituary

Margery Abraham, 100, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, in Bradenton, Fla.  
    She was born in Estherville, Iowa, on Sept. 15, 1917, to George and Mary Luikart.  Her family moved to Sandstone, Minn., where Margery graduated from high school and Sandstone Teachers Training.  She then taught school in a one-room school in Sandstone.
    Her family moved to Lake City in 1937 and Margery married Harry Abraham on March 25, 1939.  She was manager of the Sears Catalog Store in Lake City for 30 years and retired in 1980.
    After her retirement, she was active in many community activities.  She helped to organize the Red Cross Bloodmobile drives, was a member of the Lake City Hospital Auxiliary and the St. John’s Lady’s Aide.  In her spare time, she loved to play golf and get together with friends to play cards.  She moved to Florida in 2003.
    She is survived by two sons, Harry Abraham and Richard Abraham; one daughter, Barbara McGougan; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Harry, her husband of 60 years, two brothers and two sisters.  
    There will be a memorial service in Bradenton at Hope Lutheran Church on Wednesday, Feb. 10 and a graveside service in Lake City at a later date.
