Mary Kay Paine obituary

On Monday, June 14, 2021 Mary Kay Paine, devoted wife to Jim Paine and mother to three, passed away at age 88.
Mary Kay was born on Nov. 7, 1932, in Rochester, Minn. to Pearl and Clifford Billington. She is survived by her sons, Stephen (Cindy Dilworth) and Michael (Bonnie); her daughter, Julie; her grandchildren, Heather, Kristen, Jayme, Samantha, Garret and Jessica; great grandchildren, Jakob and Olivia; and Gloria Frugal, a best friend so close they could have been sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl and Clifford; her grandson, Austin; and her beloved husband, Jim.
Mary Kay worked for Jeno’s pizza for 10 years before becoming the office manager for a dental firm, which she pursued for 15 years. The love of her life and future husband of 67 years would be introduced to her through mutual friends who set them up on a blind date.
One of Mary Kay’s great joys in life was going on adventures. She loved to take a day and go for a drive to see where the road would take them and find a new hidden gem for lunch. She loved travel and she and Jim went on many vacations with their close friends Lyle and Bernice Zimmerman. She and “the girls” would play bridge, and go on day trips to the casino. She had a zest for life and enjoyed getting out and doing.
Mary Kay and her husband Jim were involved and emotionally invested in every community they became a part of, making lifelong friends everywhere they moved for Jim’s work. Mary Kay was part of a knitting group called the Knit Wits and made prayer shawls that brought comfort and kindness to people suffering from loss. She organized outings and get-togethers for her church groups. When Andy Larkin needed a place to stay so that he could complete his high school education and move on to college, Jim and Mary Kay opened their home to him and he became like a member of their family. She cared for everyone who came across her path and made a positive impact in their lives.
Mary Kay was a beautiful soul wrapped up in this physical life and she is now free to join her beloved husband in their afterlife together.
Memorial to be held at Lake City United Methodist Church, 213 N. Oak St., Lake City, Minn. on  June 28, 2021 at 11 a.m.
