Mary Kennedy Obituary

Mary E. Kennedy, 88, of Kellogg, died peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017 at St. Elizabeth’s Nursing Home in Wabasha where she had resided the past four years.  
    She was born Jan. 25, 1929 in Wabasha, the only child to William and Ada (Buroff) LaRue.  She was a graduate of Kellogg High School.  She married Roy Kennedy June 28, 1947 at the Kellogg United Methodist Church.  Together with her husband they farmed in the Kellogg area.  Roy died April 19, 2012.
    Mary was a lifelong member of the Kellogg United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed gardening and cooking and together with Roy they enjoyed travelling to the casino to play keno.  Mary was also an avid Minnesota Twins fan.
    She is survived by one son, William (Mary Rose) Kennedy of Wabasha; one daughter, Judy (Jim) Rongstad of Rochester; three grandchildren, Larry (Lisa) Kennedy, Michelle (Dale) Meyer and Susan Horsman; three great-grandchildren, Ben, Joseph and Nicholas Meyer; stepgrandson, Matt Rongstad; stepgranddaughter, Lexi Rongstad; three step great-grandchildren, Lindsay (David) Paulson, and Craig and Cory Loechler; sisters-in-law, Olivia Kennedy of St. Paul and Louise Kennedy of Wabasha; and nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy.
    A funeral service will be Monday, Sept. 11, at 1:30 p.m. at the Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha with the Rev. Cheryl Nymann officiating.  Interment will follow at Greenfield Cemetery in rural Kellogg.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service.
