Mary Klein obituary

Burnsville - Mary Louise Klein, beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  Mary was an adventurer, entrepreneur, artistic, free-willed individual loved by many.
Mary Louise passed away on March 28 resting peacefully at the age of 82 preceded in death by her mother (Edith) father (Walter), and sister (Lanore).
Mary was born to parents Walter and Edith Sogard on Sept 17, 1940 in Chicago, Ill.  She is survived by her husband of 11 years Donald Klein and sisters Wanita Moody, and Ruth Anderson. Son Eric Lagerquist and daughter, Deborah Hazlett (Kirk) as well as grandchildren Eddie, Tristen, Colton Hazlett and great grandson Beckett Hazlett.
Mary was a true free spirit. She loved to travel, read, sail, and be outdoors. Mary met and later married Rolf Lagerquist in 1962 while she was obtaining her degree at the University of Minnesota as a medical technologist. She and Rolf later started and ran a successful business (Head Foil) manufacturing their invention used on sailboats and she discovered her love for sailing. Mid-way through life she started her own company, Women in the Wind with two women for the purpose of educating women in the art of sailing. This evolved into many exotic trips to the Caribbean, Tahiti and Greece to name a few where she captained the sailboat all the while teaching her students how to sail.
Later in life she met and married husband Don who she then moved with to Arizona. Mary loved the Arizona lifestyle and her artistic nature which she flourished all throughout her life is evidenced in the home and beautiful landscape she created there. Her artistic nature throughout life was evidenced in her many works of art whether it was jewelry, pottery, or beautiful glass art pieces.
A Celebration of Life will be postponed until this summer when we can spread her ashes in Lake Pepin which was her desire.
