Rev. Alfred Eastin

Rev. Alfred S. Eastin, 88, of Jacksonville, Ill.,  passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017 at his home.
    He was born Jan. 30, 1929 to Lee and Vada Pride Eastin. He married Juanita Marie Tucker on July 22, 1951 at the First Baptist Church in Mattoon, Ill., she preceded him in death on April 6, 2012.
    He is survived by a son, Michael (Charlotte) Eastin of Lake City; three daughters, Cindy (Larry) Meece and Melissa (Bruce) Evans, both of Jacksonville and Elizabeth (Jeffery) Ogren of Plymouth, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Landon, Erika, Laura, Logan, Alex, Allison and Hannah; eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Farris (Daphene) Eastin of Sacramento, Calif. and Richard (Betty) Eastin of Arizona.  He was preceded in death by one sister, Rosalie Miller.
    Rev. Eastin was a navy veteran. He served in ministry at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Cook’s Mill, Bethel Baptist Church in Sharpsburg, First Baptist Church in Flora, First Baptist Church in Carthage, First Baptist Church in White Hall, Martins Prairie Baptist Church in Roodhouse, and as a part time Chaplin for Passavant Hospital. He was part of the White Hall community, well known as the Minister of Main Street, and active in the Masonic Lodge 80.  He was an avid woodworker for his friends and family. He has now been reunited with the love of his life.
    A memorial service will be held at 2  p.m. Wednesday, July 5 at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville. The family will meet friends from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be 1 p.m. Thursday, July 6, at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Cook’s Mill, Ill. Memorials are suggested to Eastin House in White Hall or the Jacksonville Food Pantry.
