Ronald Radermacher Obituary

    Ronald Joseph Radermacher died peacefully, at his home on Monday, May 14, 2018 in Lino Lakes, Minn., at the age of 71 years.
    Ron is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Maria (David) Masten, grandchildren (Delaney and Nick) of Lino Lakes; Eric Radermacher (Nicole Glass) and grandson (Karsten) of Waxahachie, Texas; mother, Marcella Radermacher of Sauk Centre, Minn.; siblings, James (Lynn) Radermacher of Redwood Falls, Minn., Marilyn (Andy) Girard of Alexandria, Minn., and Norma Jean (Bryan) Imme of Willmar, Minn. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Radermacher and grandparents.
    Ron was born on June 24,1946 in Melrose, Minn. to Norman John Radermacher and Marcella B. Radermacher (Kemper). He graduated from Tracy High School in 1964.  He was soon drafted into the Army, serving his country as a gunner in a helicopter in Viet Nam.  Serving from Nov. 22, 1965 to Nov. 21, 1967.  He obtained rank of Specialist Four E4.  While there he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Viet Nam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Army Commendation Medal with “V” device.  He also received an Air Medal with 17 oak leaf clusters for each successful air mission.
He married Dorothy Hamilton, July 10, 1971 in Tracy, Minn.  They moved to Lake City in 1972 where Ron began working for Lake City Super Valu as a meat cutter. Ron worked as a meat cutter for a majority of his lifetime. He received multiple awards for his meat marketing and a Friends of Beef Award from Wabasha County Beef Association in 1985.  Ron and Dorothy raised their two children in Lake City.
    Ron was accomplished at bowling, with his highest achievement winning the State Doubles Championship in 1976.  He also competed in 25 national tournaments, the last in 2005 and was inducted into the Lake City Bowling Hall of Fame in 2006.  
    Ron was an avid golfer, sharing his love for golf with his wife, children and grandchildren at the Lake City Country Club of which he was a member from 1972 to 2014.  He played many tournaments at the course, and on Sept. 24, 1992 enjoyed a hole-in-one.  With a net score of 64 they edged out 29 other teams for the local handicap score in the Mr. and Mrs. Golf Tournament.
    Growing up with a passion for fishing, he always enjoyed time spent with family and friends at the lake.  He captured his prized 9 pound-10 ounce walleye on Nov. 29, 1993 off the government pier on Lake Pepin.
    He enjoyed card games of all kinds, teaching his grandchildren to play hearts, cribbage, 99 and others.  In cribbage he retired the deck and recorded each 28 and 29 hands, achieving the 29 hand in 2011.
    Most friends will remember Ron for his love of grilling, cooking, baking and hosting friends and family in his garage fit for a king.  
    He served the Lake City Sportsman’s Club in various positions and was president from 1987-89.  Ron was a current member of Lino Lakes American Legion and life time member of VFW, Knights of Columbus and Lake City Sportsman’s Club.  
    His children remember him as a hero who worked hard to be the best at everything he tried, a very caring husband, father and grandpa.  
    In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be given to local programs that assist military and veteran families.  Contributions may be made to: Ron Radermacher Memorial, 7081 Ivy Ridge Lane Lino Lakes, MN 55014.
    Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in a private family military service.
