Sandra Plank obituary
Sandra “Sandee” Kay Plank, 78, of Frontenac, Minnesota passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at her home in Frontenac surrounded by her family and friends.
Sandee was born on July 16, 1947 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Helen Lammo and Raymond Sanderson. Helen later married Forrest Glaze and they moved several places while working on the railroad. Sandee graduated from Wabasha School in 1965. She married the love of her life, Arvert (Sonny) Plank on July 24, 1965 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wabasha, Minnesota. They were later blessed with two daughters, Julie and Darla. They made their forever home in 1968 in Frontenac.
Sandee worked at Jewell Nursery after they were married, then began working at Berlin’s Café, Marilyn’s Tavern, and she then started working at Gibson’s/Pamida in Red Wing, Minnesota from 1972 until 1997. She went on to work at Wild Wings Art Gallery in Lake City, until she retired in 2007.
Her passions were casino trips, camping, euchre, bingo, gardening, dancing, car shows with her 1964 Chevrolet Impala, and bowling for 50 years. She was inducted into the Lake City Bowling Hall of Fame in May 2024. Sandee was also very active in planning her high school class reunions for many years. She attended many sporting events for her grandchildren, which were her greatest pride and joy. Sandee was always willing to help people as she wore her kind heart on her sleeve. A loving wife, mother, and grandma who always put others' needs ahead of herself. She loved spending time with her family and will be greatly missed by many.
Sandee is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Sonny; her two daughters, Julie Plank of Frontenac, Darla Dohrn (Kevin Norton) of Lake City, Minnesota and Darlene Cordes (Pat) of Ellsworth, Wisconsin, (as their adopted daughter, because she was like family).
