Virginia Lee Obituary

The funeral service for Virginia “Gini” Lee will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 18, at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in Plainview with Fr. William Becker officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Joachim’s Catholic Cemetery in Plainview.
    Mrs. Lee, 77, of Lake City, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017 at The Bluffs in Lake City.
    Virginia Margaret Gengler was born May 7, 1940 in Rochester to Arnold and Jeanette (Faber) Gengler.  She attended Plainview Community Schools graduating in 1958.  On June 23, 1962 she married Donald Lee in Plainview.
    Gini began working at Mayo Clinic as an LPN, and then later as a clerk retiring in 2000.  Gini also valued her time as a homemaker, being a mom to her children, and time spent working with Don and the family on the farm.  She loved to spend time gardening, quilting, and traveling, and especially enjoyed watching sunsets.  Gini and Don were crowned Viola Gopher Count King and Queen in 2005.  She spent most of her lifetime in the Plainview, Elgin, and Eyota area, moving to The Bluffs of Lake City recently.
    Gini was a member of St. Joachim’s Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, the Elgin Legion Auxiliary, Gopher Gals, and the Plainview Garden Club.
    Gini is survived by her three children, Brenda Lee of Rochester, Kelly (David) Flo of Lake City and Michael (Marcie) Lee of Elgin; three grandchildren, Desirae, Martin and Abigail; sisters and brothers, Rita Gengler of Rochester, Marilyn (Bob) Mussallem of Madison, Wis., Paul (Norman Schranz) Gengler of San Diego, Calif., John (Rita) Gengler of Plainview, and David (Janice) Gengler of Edina; sisters-in-law, Karla Gengler of Clear Lake, Minn. and Karen Gengler of Apple Valley.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and five brothers, Gerald, Jerome, Earl, Richard and James.
    Friends and family may visit on Sunday, Sept. 17, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
    Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer Association, The Bluffs of Lake City, or donor’s choice in lieu of flowers.
