William Kohrs Obituary

William “Bill” Leonard Kohrs, 63, of Lake City, died Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus in Rochester.
    He was born Jan. 1, 1954 to Emery and Ruth (Gerken) Kohrs in Lake City and was baptized on Jan. 24, 1954 at St. Peter’s Belvidere Lutheran Church. Bill grew up in Lake City and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1971. He worked at Reidell in Red Wing for eight years and then he farmed until 2015.  He was united in marriage to Jill Niedfeldt on Oct. 6, 1973 in Red Wing. Together, they bought the Kohrs Family Farm in 1978 and lived there until retiring and moving in to Lake City in 2015. Bill was a member of St. Peter’s Belvidere Lutheran Church. He enjoyed watching sports and most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
    He is survived by his wife, Jill; children, Melissa (Jeremy) McDonnell of Lake City and Scott (Dixi) Kohrs of Louisville, Miss.; five grandchildren, Dylan, Austin, Jaidan and Shanna McDonnell and Chance Kohrs; father, Emery Kohrs of Lake City; two brothers, Keith (Deb) Kohrs and Mark Kohrs, both of Lake City; three sisters, Kate (Larry) Binner of Wabasha and Debra (Dan) Foster and Patricia (Kenny) Sexton, both of Lake City; brother-in-law, Tim Niedfeldt of Hager City; mother-in-law, Inez Niedfeldt; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth; his infant daughter; and his maternal and paternal grandparents; father-in-law, Herbert Niedfeldt; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Niedfeldt and Judy Matlock; and one brother-in-law, Jim Niedfeldt.
    Funeral will be Wednesday, May 24, at 11 a.m. at Saint Peter’s Belvidere Lutheran Church in Goodhue with Scott Feige officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 23, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson Peterson Chapel i Lake City and an hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be at St. Peter Belvidere Cemetery.
