William Laidlaw Obituary

William Laidlaw, 84, of Frontenac, passed away Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Health System - Lake City Hospital.
    He was born on May 27, 1933 to William and Irma (Ackerman) Laidlaw in Minneapolis. William attended high school in St. Louis Park, Minn. After graduating, he served in the Army.  After he was discharged he attended the University of Minnesota where he received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. William married Alice Kuka on June 16, 1956 in Minneapolis, and they made their home in the Twin Cities area where he worked at NSP. After retiring they moved to Frontenac.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Red Wing Rotary Club. He was an avid gardener and served as treasurer on the Florence Town Board for many years.
    William is survived by his wife, Alice Laidlaw of Frontenac; three sons, Curt (Sandy) of Andover, Minn., Scott (Regina) of Champlin, Minn. and Thomas (Lenora) of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; six grandchildren, Matt, Carly, Kevin, Brian, Alex and Adam; and sister-in-law, Patricia Laidlaw of Red Wing. He was preceded in death by his brother, Marshall.
    A memorial service will be Friday, Nov. 17, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City with Fr. Joseph Pete officiating. Burial will be at Frontenac Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 16, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City and one hour prior to the service at the church.
