Lake City loses longtime leader
Longtime city council member Mary Lou Waltman passed away Saturday, Jan. 26 at the Mayo Clinic Health System, Lake City Hospital.
Waltman recently resigned her seat on the council due to health issues. She had two years remaining on her term.
Waltman was first elected to the council in 2008, but had already served for two years in that capacity.
After receiving the fourth most votes with three seats up for election in 2006, she was appointed by a vote of the council in January 2007 to finish out the remaining two years of Tom Dwelle’s term.
