Did you know that the first commercially produced Honeycrisp apples were grown right here in Lake City? The University of Minnesota holds the patent for this popular apple which has been voted Minnesota’s State Fruit by schoolchildren.
As part of Johnny Appleseed Days this weekend, the Lake City Historical Society will host Chet Miller, former Director of Operations for Courtier Orchards where the Honeycrisp was developed and cultivated in the 1990s.
