Corrected: Physician sues mayo

A doctor who resigned from Mayo Clinic Health System in Lake City last year is accusing the health system of retaliation and defamation.

In a lawsuit filed Feb. 2 in Goodhue County District Court, Dr. John Renelt alleges that Mayo administrators threatened his job, paid him lower wages and denied him a promotion in response to his opposition to changes in the care model at Lake City, changes that he believed put financial consideration above patient safety.
