Marina board explains is process as council looks at waterfront development

Ed Towey said the Lake City Marina Board regards Lake City’s 5,000 citizens as the municipal marina’s shareholders.

“Those shareholders are currently getting a return of $620,000 per year,” on the marina, said Towey, a member of the Marina Board.

Towey’s comments came during a joint workshop meeting between the board and the City Council Monday.

The money generated by the marina is equal to 20 percent of the city tax levy, Towey said.
