Students raise over $700 for Lake City families in need
For the past ten years ninth graders at Lincoln High School have done a service project called Penny Wars. The activity is introduced by the team of ninth grade advisory teachers typically around Thanksgiving time.
Students are encouraged to bring in spare change (or dollar bills) to donate to their classroom advisory group. It is a competition to see which advisory can not only raise the most money but also have the most pennies. Silver coins and dollar bills count negatively for the class competition, pennies count for the positive.
