Lake City Police Chief Cory Kubista happened to be nearby when the railroad crossarms at Lyon Avenue in Lake City malfunctioned Friday, so he helped traffic across the railroad tracks to ease congestion.
Canadian Pacific, which owns the rail line, was notified and sent maintenance personnel to fix the issue.
In an email, Lake City Police Sgt. Bill Weist urged the public to exercise caution and be patient if they find themselves in a similar situation.
