Speech team places second at subsection meet

The Lake City High School speech team placed second in the sub-section 1A tournament April 4 in Wabasha.

“With 28 entries, the young (Lake City) team was excited and ready to put on a great show,” Coach Anna Karsten said. “And that they did.”

Cotter Schools was the runaway victor with 181 overall points, followed by Lake City with 77, Byron with 59, Wabasha-Kellogg with 48 and Lewiston-Altura with 30.

The second place finish ends the Tigers’ team season, but 13 students will compete at the section competition April 9 in Byron. One more is an alternate.
