Bruce Barnum obituary

Bruce James Barnum, 82, of Lake City, passed away at his home on February 5, 2025. He was born March 28, 1942 to Porter and Minoa (Kruger) Barnum in St. Paul, Minn.
Bruce graduated in 1960 from Lincoln High School, Lake City. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and served for four years. After his service, he went on to Barbers College in St. Paul, Minn. He eventually returned to Lake City, where he was a barber for over 50 years. Bruce never fully retired, as he always had a friend or family member with a head of hair to attend to.
On Oct. 23, 1965 he married Jo Springer in Millville, Minn. They were married 19 years until her passing in March 1984. Bruce was a devoted father to their daughter, Stacy, providing her with his unwavering love and support.
Bruce was an avid hunter and fisherman his entire life.  He also enjoyed gardening, making maple syrup, camping in his prized Airstream trailer, going for drives or road trips, and attending his grandson’s football and lacrosse games.
He is survived by his daughter, Stacy (Mike) Jacobson of St. Paul, Minn.; grandson, Charlie Jacobson; his partner, Carolyn Wenzel of Lake City; two brothers, George “Bud” (Sally) Barnum of Lake City, Minn. and Porter Barnum of Houston, Texas;  two sisters, Laura Neinast of Missouri City, Texas and Carmen Lee of Lakehead, Calif.; and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two brother in laws, Dave Neinast and Dave Lee.
A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2025 at the Millville Cemetery in Millville, Minn.  Following the graveside service, a Celebration of Bruce’s life will be held from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2025 at the Lake City Sportsman’s Club.
