Union president urges county board to ratify contract

Shep Austad, County Planning and Zoning officer and president of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Local 3542, thanked Wabasha County Board members for commissioning a wage study earlier this year, and said the study shows the potential for a 14 percent average wage adjustment, if approved.

But he noted that negotiations for a new contract have stalled.
