Ralph Grobe obituary
Ralph Edward Grobe, 90, of Zumbro Falls, passed away Monday, December 1, 2025, at home, with his loving family by his side after a brief illness. He was born on March 1, 1935, son of Alfred and Lillian (Holst) Grobe.
He graduated from Plainview High School in 1953. After graduation, he farmed outside of rural Millville up until 1969. He then became an electrician, working for Gusa Electric, Stafford Electric and retired from Wallerich Electric (four times). He was a loyal member of the Zumbro Valley Sportsman’s Club and took care of the campground for many years.
He married Darlene Luhmann on October 12, 1957. With that union, they were blessed with four children: Shirley, Kevin, Linda and Darla. They were united in marriage up until Darlene’s passing on June 16, 1994. He later married Diana (Hofschulte) Truax on July 12, 1997. From that marriage, he gained three step-children: Stacy, Jesse and Tina.
After Ralph finally retired, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He could often be found going for a golf cart ride with his furry friend, Jasper. He was an avid sports watcher and knew the scores of each game. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, too. He rarely missed his granddaughter, Kayla’s, softball games. He always had his own notebook to make sure the scoreboard was correct. He also enjoyed being outside, bird watching and camping.
Ralph will forever be remembered for his quiet demeanor, strength, courage and his willingness to lend a helping hand. Ralph was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many, who will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife, Diana Grobe; children, Shirley (Ted) Lehmann, Kevin (Kathy) Grobe, Linda (Dale) Arendt and Darla Oelkers (Bob Johnson); grandchildren, Patrick Lehmann (Mara Fenske), Angela Lehmann (Brent Beck) and Kayla Grobe; great grandchildren, Throck, Ainsleigh and Donald Lehmann. He is also survived by step-children, Stacy (Teri) Truax, Jesse (Melissa) Truax, and Tina Truax; step grandchildren, Danny Oelkers, Annie Pries, Kelly Winsky, Carmen Truax, Mitchell Truax, Donovan Truax and Carson Truax; step great grandchildren, Samantha, Abigail, Brynlee, Addison, Bryson, Lexi and Hailey.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Darlene Grobe; parents, Alfred and Lillian; siblings, Delores Timm, Donald Grobe, Lloyd Grobe, Marian Schumacher, and infant Gladys Grobe; son in law, Daniel Oelkers; great grandson, William Lehmann; and many other friends and family members.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at the VFW in Zumbro Falls from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. A private family burial will be held this spring at the Mazeppa Cemetery.
