Election filing begins Tuesday

The ballot for next November’s general election will officially begin taking shape Tuesday, May 17, when candidates can begin to file for public office.

Lake City citizens will have a number of new people serving them once the dust settles. President Barack Obama will have completed his second term, a successor will be selected for U.S. Rep. John Kline who is retiring,  and for State Rep. Tim Kelly, who is not seeking re-election.

And for mayor.

Lake City Mayor Joel Beckman has said he will not file for a second four-year term as mayor.
