Benefit planned at VFW for family recovering from serious car accident

A benefit is being held at the Lake City VFW to raise money for the McGovern family, whose lives were changed in the early morning hours of Monday, Nov. 3, when their vehicle struck a deer and rolled. Luke McGovern was ejected from the vehicle, suffering severe injuries that resulted in a seven-hour surgery to decompress spinal nerves, fuse his neck with rods and pins, realign his spine, and repair his spinal cord as much as possible.
