Gillford Township: Important information regarding asset and classification of property. This may affect your 2027 property taxes. OPEN BOOK APPEAL. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the board of appeal and equalization for GILLFORD TOWNSHIP will be open from Monday, April 6 through Friday, May 29, 2026 – contact the Assessor’s office for an appointment Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Phone: 651-565-3669 or Email: LBAE@co.wabasha.mn.us. The purpose of this meeting is to determine whether taxable property in the jurisdiction has been properly valued, and classified by the ambassador, and to determine whether corrections needs to be made. If you believe the value or classification of your property is incorrect, please contact your assessor’s office to discuss your concerns. If you are still not satisfied with the valuation or classification after discussing it with your assessor, you may appear before the local board of appeal and equalization the board shall review the valuation, classification, or both if necessary, And shall correct it as needed. Generally, an appearance before your local board of appeal and equal equalization is required by law before an appeal can be taken to the county board of appeal and equalization. PUBLIC NOTICE FROM FLORENCE TOWNSHIP:Summary of new township ordinance No. 2026-01: CANNABIS RETAIL REGISTRATION ORDINANCE. On March 16, 2026, the Florence Town Board adopted Ordinance 2026-01, the “Cannabis Retail Registration Ordinance.” This summary is provided in lieu of publication of the full ordinance, which is lengthy. Ordinance 2026-01 requires cannabis businesses licensed under Minnesota Statutes Chapter 342 with a retail endorsement to obtain a local registration before operating in Florence Township. The ordinance authorizes the Township to delegate registration and compliance-check duties to another governmental unit, which will be Goodhue County. The ordinance incorporates Minnesota Statute 342.13, including state-mandated limits on the number of cannabis retail businesses that may operate within a township and within a county. Florence Township will not issue additional registrations if the Township has reached its local cap or if Goodhue County has reached its countywide minimum requirement of one registration per 12,500 residents. The ordinance also establishes application requirements, grounds for denial, renewal procedures and enforcement provisions.
