In the first year of college, with most colleges, you are forced to stay in the dorms. With some colleges, you are forced to stay in the dorms for the first two years.
Within those years, you have a choice to have a dorm all by yourself or to either pick a roommate to live with you. With choosing a roommate, you can either find one yourself or have the school chose one for you at random.
