McKenzie marks 70 years in American Legion

Dave McKenzie is the fourth member of the Lake City American Legion to receive a 70-year membership plaque from the organization this year.

He joins Donald Palmer, Babe TerBorch and Donald Dahling.

McKenzie served in the United States Navy from the summer of 1942 to the spring of 1946.

For much of that time he was stationed on a minesweeper ship in the Pacific Ocean.

“My responsibility on the ship was to discharge the minesweeper,” he said.
