Shirley Luettinger Obituary
Shirley A. Luettinger, 91, of Lake City, passed away Friday, June 23, 2017 at home.
She was born on Aug. 22, 1925 in Litchfield, Minn. to Henry “Leo” and Olga (Behrmann) Hulterstrum.
Shirley was a 1943 graduate from Litchfield High School and went on to graduate from Gustavus Adolphus College with a degree in music. On June 18, 1949 Shirley was joined in marriage to Walton Luettinger and they made their home in Lake City. She worked for Lake City Public Schools as a high school music teacher in her early years, then as an elementary school music teacher for 28 years. She then retired from teaching in 1982. Shirley was a member of First Lutheran Church where she was very active in the music department and she also served on the church council. She was a life member of MEA and NEA and Delta Kappa Gamma. She and Walt enjoyed traveling and playing cards. She taught piano lessons in Lake City for many years.
Shirley is survived by her two daughters, Cheryl Luettinger of Lake City and Wanda (Brad) Pederson of Rochester; two grandsons, Bryan Pederson of Las Vegas, Nev. and Nick (Jody) Pederson of Rochester; and great-grandson, Gavin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walt, parents and brother, Wayne Hulterstrum.
A memorial service will be Thursday, June 29, at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Lake City with Reverend Duane Holst officiating. Burial will be at Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel of Lake City.
