The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office dive team trained in Frontenac on June 12.
“We got a new sonar system for a couple of our boats that we were practicing with,” said Investigator Steve Sutton-Brown, the commander of the dive team.
Divers submerged in 20 feet of water in search of a mannequin while support staff in the boats above, known as “tenders,” monitor sonar and guide their movements through radio or, failing that, rope signals.
Another exercise had tenders on shore as divers searched the shoreline.
