Blood drive comes amid shortage

Lake City’s blood drive is Thursday, July 27 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday, July 28 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lake City United Methodist Church.

The American Red Cross is reporting a severe blood shortage and has issued an emergency call for blood and platelet donations. Right now, blood is being distributed to hospitals faster than it is being donated, according to the Red Cross. A critical shortage of Red Cross blood may lead to delays in urgent medical care to vulnerable patients.
