Clara Sobaski Obituary

Clara Sobaski, 70, of Lake City passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017 Mayo Clinic Health System - Lake City Care Center.
    She was born Aug. 31, 1946 to George and Mary Ellen (Jamison) Hawes in Knapp, Wis. She grew up in Ellsworth, Wis. and graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1965. After graduation, Clara worked at Smead Manufacturing in Hastings.  Clara married Darrel Sobaski on Aug. 21, 1976 in Prescott, Wis.  They moved to South St. Paul where she worked at various jobs in the Twin Cities. She and Darrel later divorced.  In 1983, Clara moved to Lake City. She worked at Fiesta Foods, Conoco, Big Bear and River Oaks Nursing Home.  In 1996, she moved to Red Wing and lived there until June when she moved to the Lake City Care Center.  She enjoyed singing, crafting and helping at the church teaching Sunday school and supervising many different youth organizations.
    Clara is survived by two sons, Frank Sobaski of Las Vegas, Nev. and John Sobaski of South St. Paul; and one sister, Ellen Hawes of Sioux Falls, S.D. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Delna Hawes.
    A funeral service will be Monday, July 24, at 11 a.m. at Valley View Assembly of God Church in Lake City with Rev. Loy Palma officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ellsworth. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City is in charge of arrangements.
