Doubles team advances to state tennis tourney
The Lake City girls tennis doubles tandem of Ashley Thieren and Ava Wallerich earned a spot in the doubles competition at the state tournament following a second place finish in Section 1A on Tuesday.
They won their semifinal match against third seeded Molly Beldal and Maria Topel from Rochester Lourdes 6-2, 6-2, advancing them to the championship round against Clare Palen and Natlie Alison from Rochester Lourdes.
In the championship round they were defeated 0-6, 3-6 and finished as runners-up. First and second place advance to the state tournament.
