Home physical therapy helps retired nurse

Bob Shutes gives a light knock and then pushes the door open to Kathryn Nelson’s townhouse in Pepin, where hand-drawn pictures of colorful unicorns and pink hearts are taped to the cupboards and refrigerator.

“Hi Carmelia!” he says, greeting Kathryn’s six-year-old granddaughter, who sits on the couch. She looks up from her tablet and smiles. Bob is a familiar and trusted face in her home. He’s been helping her grandmother get back on her feet — literally.
