Baseball Tigers honor Gary 'Scoop' Smith
The Lake City High School varsity baseball team held a brief pre-game ceremony April 29 to honor reporter, statistician, and all-around Lake City High School sports booster Gary “Scoop” Smith.
Before his death last year at age 67, Smith was a fixture in the Tiger bullpen. His game reporting appeared weekly in the Graphic during the high school and American Legion baseball seasons.
In attendance were Gary’s wife Val, his sisters Marsha and Anna, and other family members.
