A ‘privilege and honor’ to escort Tiger band

An email to Paul Holland:
Paul — I want to thank you and your band for  coming to St. Louis to participate in our parade on July 4. I was impressed with your personal enthusiasm—talking to the patrons watching the parade and handing out flags—as well as the different movements of your band members while they were marching and playing.
I would also like to apologize for the almost rude approach some members of the parade committee took near the TV land exposure area on telling you to hurry up—the slowdown was not your fault.
I was almost emotionally overcome by the manners and politeness of your young band members. At least one half of them came up to thank me. I can tell you that in my 41 years of escorting bands, I have never had even one band member come up and thank me. Growing up in a small town myself, I still have an appreciation for such manners and thoughtfulness.
It was a privilege and honor to be associated with your band as your official Veiled Prophet (V.P.) Parade escort. Hope to see you at a future parade.
