Arlis Brinkman obituary
Arlis Alma Brinkman, 85, of Lake City, died on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the Lake City Care Center.
Arlis was born on September 26, 1940 in Lake City to John and Alma (Klein) Hinck. She attended country schools and later went to Goodhue High School where she graduated from in 1958. She was a life-long member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Belvidere where she was baptized and confirmed. On November 3, 1962, she married Ralph Brinkman at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Belvidere. They bought the farm she grew up on and continued to operate the farm for many years. Arlis wore many different hats at the farm, from housework to helping with the animals. They enjoyed playing cards and going to polka dances. She liked it when Ralph would hook up the horses to the wagon and the whole family would go for a wagon ride. Before her stroke in 2012, Arlis loved to visit with people and talk with her circle of friends on the telephone keeping up with all that was happening. More than anything she loved spending time with her family.
Arlis is survived by her daughters, Terri (Dana) Ryan of Goodhue and June (Kevin Liffrig) Brinkman of Lake City; grandson, Kurt (Cheri) Brinkman of Goodhue; great-grandchildren, Kendra Brinkman, Lincoln and Lane Brinkman, and Kyla Possehl; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; grandson, Andrew Brinkman; parents; and a sister, Lois Brinkman.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 12, 2026 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Belvidere with Reverend Steve Frentz officiating. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson Peterson Chapel in Lake City, and for one hour prior to the funeral on Thursday at the church. Burial will take place at the church cemetery. Online memorials can be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
