Bonnie Weichel Obituary
The funeral service for Bonnie Weichel will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in West Albany, rural Millville with Fr. Joseph Pete officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery.
Mrs. Weichel, 69, of Millville passed away Monday, April 17, 2017, with family by her side at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus in Rochester.
Bonnie Ruby Libor was born March 28, 1948 in Delano, Minn. to Nick and Lois (Morris) Libor. While growing up Bonnie moved around a lot with her family. She attended Lincoln High School in Lake City and received her GED in Red Wing. On Aug. 28, 1965 she married Arthur J. Weichel at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in West Albany. After their marriage they lived in Lake City, Oak Center, West Albany, and in 1970 they moved to rural Millville.
Bonnie worked as a cook at the Blue Moon Café for 13 years in Lake City, also at White Swan, and the Reilly House. She also worked as a nurse’s aide at River Oaks Nursing Home in Lake City, and was employed by Hearth and Home in the assembly area for 15 years. Bonnie loved her family, it was her life. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and helping people.
Bonnie is survived by her children, Joseph (Sheila) Weichel of Grandberry, Texas, Adam (Marie) Weichel of Zumbro Falls, Cliff Weichel of Millville, and Betty Jo Weichel Meyers of Red Wing; eight grandchildren, Jessica and Mathew Weichel, Jason and Arthur Weichel, Joseph, Adam, and Joshua Weichel, and Ruby Ann Girard; three step-grandchildren, Nicole, Gabriella, and Anastasia; two great-grandchildren, Colton Weichel and Tristan Weichel; three step-great-grandchildren, Bearon, Emily, and Colyer; four sisters, Shirley Dunson, Gail (Gerry) Tripp, Paulette Bedford, and Judy Ziebell; and a brother, David Olson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Artie on April 10, 2005, three brothers, and one sister.
Friends and family may visit from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church.
