Daniel Davidson

Daniel Ernest Davidson, 71, of Frontenac, died Saturday, February 21, 2026.  He was born July 22, 1954, in Rochester, to Robert and Martha (Collett) Davidson.  He attended high school and later left to help with his family and farm work. Dan met Carol Roper at Cannonball Truckstop, and they were married on December 6, 1985. He worked at Ripley’s Rentals in Red Wing and other small jobs before buying the Whistle Stop Café and settling in Frontenac with Carol.  In his free time, before some health changes, he had enjoyed fishing and hunting.  In recent retirement years, he enjoyed spending time with his wife Carol and visiting with friends.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carol (Roper) Davidson; step children, Robert (Denise) Roper, Ruth (Tom) Barnes, Roxann (Wes) Jensen and Amy Jensen; grandchildren, Cora (Jake Boleman), Dakota (Breana) Roe, Kennedy Roe, Layne (Jayden) Brayton, Landon Brayton, (Wes) Laura Kendall, Judy (Bill) Wright, Art Davidson, Betty (Neil) McClellen, Sarah Vrieze, Rita (Brad) Bakken, Sam (Mellisa) Davidson, Joe (Mary) Davidson, Marie (Tom) Lindblom, Allen Davidson; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Martha; his in-laws, Kenneth and Neoma Roper; and brother-in-law, Scott Roper.      
A celebration of life for Dan will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Roper Family Farm. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
