Donna Mae Steffenhagen obituary

For 100 years, Donna Mae Malinda Steffenhagen embodied the virtues of faith, love, and unwavering devotion to God and family. On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at the Lake City Care Center, with family by her side, Donna was called home into the loving arms of her Savior.
Donna was born on July 16, 1924, to Charles and Elizabeth (Mehrkens) Dankers in Red Wing, Minn. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School and worked at Red Wing Shoe. She married Donald C. Steffenhagen March 13, 1943, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Frontenac. She worked beside her husband on their farm and took care of the family until they retired in 1981 and moved to Frontenac. Donna was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Frontenac, belonged to the Fellowship Club, and was a member of the Ladies Aid for 80 years. Donna enjoyed traveling and visited many states. She loved playing cards and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Donna is survived by her children, Gary (Rita) Steffenhagen of Eau Claire, Wis., Diane (Dean) Johnson of Cottonwood, Ariz., James (Denise) Steffenhagen of Frontenac, Minn., Gloria (Paul) Otto of Frontenac, Minn., Dean Steffenhagen of Ellenton, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Donald; her parents; granddaughter, Angela Otto; siblings, Ivanetta Schramm, Alvira Kohrs, Margaret Scharpen, Fern Jansen, Wallace Dankers, Eldon Dankers, Vernon Dankers, Dorance Dankers and Wayne Dankers.
Funeral Services will be on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Frontenac. Pastor Alan Horn will be officiating. Visitation will be onehour before the service at the church. Burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery in Lake City. Memorials are preferred to St. John’s Lutheran Church or donor choice.
